Different Grades of Coarse Panel Filters

Coarse panel filters are classified under international (European) standards into four grades, G1 through G4, with filtration efficiency rising step by step: G1 captures particles larger than 5 µm, G2 larger than 3 µm, G3 larger than 1 µm, and G4 larger than 0.5 µm. The higher the grade, the more demanding the air-quality requirement of the application — ranging from general dust removal to clean environments such as operating rooms and laboratories. The right grade should be selected by weighing your specific needs against the applicable standard and evaluating them together.

Coarse panel filters are primarily classified by their filtration efficiency, generally expressed using the international (e.g., European) standard “G” grades. These grades typically run from G1 to G4, and each grade offers a different level of efficiency and capability.

A brief overview of the different grades of coarse panel filters:

  1. G1-grade filter — A G1 filter has the lowest filtration efficiency; it captures particles larger than 5 µm in diameter. It is mainly used to trap larger dust and particulate matter, and suits non-critical environments.
  2. G2-grade filter — A G2 filter offers slightly higher efficiency, capturing particles larger than 3 µm. It suits environments that need better filtration and effectively removes dust and some larger particles.
  3. G3-grade filter — A G3 filter has relatively high efficiency, capturing particles larger than 1 µm. It suits environments with higher air-quality requirements, such as offices, hospitals, and laboratories.
  4. G4-grade filter — A G4 filter is the highest-efficiency grade among coarse panel filters, capturing particles larger than 0.5 µm. It is mainly used in environments with stricter air-quality requirements, such as operating rooms and laboratories.

Note that the grades above are general classifications only; actual filtration efficiency and application scenarios may vary with the standard and the specific requirement. Therefore, when selecting a coarse panel filter, LANSIR recommends that you evaluate your actual needs and application environment and choose the appropriate filter grade.
